Some people don’t understand how much a stuffed animal means to someone. To a foster child, that stuffed animal might be the only thing in the world that is truly theirs. It is the constant companion that is there to provide comfort day and night. I know this from experience; I was in foster care myself during the early days of my life. I was fortunate enough to have been adopted at six and a half years of age. In the very beginning my stay in many foster homes, I didn’t have a bag to pack my items in. I used a trash bag as many other foster children do. It had only a few items of clothing and nothing more. I didn’t have any toys or stuffed animals, like many other kids my age enjoyed. When I arrived at my final foster home, I was very lucky to receive a stuffed animal that stayed with me through all the good and bad times of my life.

My dream is to be able to give every foster child a stuffed animal, with a note of love attached. This provides each child the comfort that a stuffed animal can provide, helping remind them that they are loved.

Each animal will have a tag that says, “I’m Buddy, and I will always be yours. When you’re feeling alone, sad, happy or scared, I’m here to give you a hug and remind you that you are never alone.”
